I made colorful circles on a black background, the circles have ripples, inspired by rain drops. some elements I used were shape and color. I created this using paint, oil pastels, and gluing paper. The idea behind this is walking in circles. I like walking in circles almost every day to relieve stress. I walk in circles in the morning and after school. My goal was to show soothing circles, I tried to reference rain because it's calming and peaceful. I think if I were to do this again I would have tried to make the background more like water to highlight the rain.
I made my pumpkin painting with two pumpkins in it on a table with a dark navy blue background. Some elements I used while making this were value, to make the pumpkin look 3-dimensional, along with color and shape. I made this using only paint. I referenced pumpkin photography. My goal was to show a realistic looking pumpkin using value, shading, and highlights. If I were to do this again I would have made a more obvious light source.
I made my fruit painting a mango with leaves around it and a peachy yellow background that did show up in the final picture. Some elements I used while making this were value, to make the mango's colors transition well, and I used shape and color. I used paint to make my fruit painting. I referenced a mango macro photography picture. My goal was to make a colorful mango. If I did this project again something I would do differently is to blend the green and yellow better.
Anything but a canvas
For the 'anything but a canvas' project I chose to paint a lampshade for my mom. I painted my three dogs on each side of the lampshade with the backgrounds being the colors of their collars. Some elements I used while making this were value, color, and shape to make the dogs look realistic. I made this using paint. I referenced pictures of my dogs and the colors of their collars. My goal was to show all three of them proportionally to each other and make them look realistic. If I were to do this again I probably wouldn't have done all three of them because I didn't have enough time for it and I would've done more layers so when the light is on it doesn't look patchy.
Beyond the border
For the beyond the border project I chose to do a fox in a forest. I made the fox water colored outside of the border, while everything else outside was pen techniques. Some elements I used were line, color, and shape. I made this using water color pencils, colored markers, and pen. I referenced a picture of a fox and tree textures in pen. My goal was to show a fox in its natural habitat while the inside of the box was colorful and the outside stayed black and white, with the fox's colors poking outside of the border. If I were to do this again I wouldn't outlined the box over the fox.
Paper Marbling
For the paper marbling project I chose the colors yellow and green for the marbling to act as a background the chameleon can camouflage in. I made the chameleon, bushes, and branches with paper and colored pencils, while the background was made with paint marbling. Some elements I used were color, value, and space. I referenced a picture of a chameleon. My goal was to make the chameleon blend in with the background. If I were to do this again I would've marbled right because I had to cover the border for the spots I missed.
Smoking Painting
For the smoking painting project I chose to do an owl perched on a tree stump. I made the owl using smoke on the paper and erasing it and outlining the rest of it with pencil. Some elements I used were value, line, and shape. I referenced a picture of a barn owl. My goal was to make the owl look realistic. If I were to do this again I would've went back in with a candle and fix some of the parts I didn't mean to erase.
Paint blowing
For the paint blowing project I chose to do a little bird on a branch. I made the bird, bushes, branch, and sky using watercolors and pen. Some elements I used were color, line, and space. I referenced a picture of a bird. My goal was to make the splattered colors look like a bird by filling in the gaps with pen, If I were to do this again I would've done more for the background with the paint blowing technique.
Bubble painting
For the bubble painting project I chose to do a turtle coming out of the water onto the shore. I made the turtle using watercolor and pen and the ocean using watercolor and the bubble painting technique to give it a water effect. Some elements I used were color, line, and shape. I referenced a picture of a sea turtle. My goal was to make the turtle look like it was swimming ashore and make the water look realistic. If I were to do this again I would've practiced more with the bubble technique to make it better quality.
Paint pouring
For the Paint pouring project I chose to the colors pink, red, and black. I used layered paint and then placed it on the canvas before turning it over and the spreading the paint out evenly. Some elements I used were color. My goal was to make a swirly, colorful pattern. If I were to do this again I would've chose different colors
Cubism

For the Cubism project I chose to paint a grey hound racing. I painted a blue greyhound in the middle of the canvas with the background being a gradient of red on the left side transitioning into blue on the right side. Some elements I used while making this were value, color, and shape to make the dog stand out from the cubist background. I made this using paint. I referenced pictures of greyhounds racing. My goal was to show a greyhound running while having it stand out from the background. If I were to do this again I would've gone over the shapes a little more because some white from the canvas is still visible.
